About Us
Art, Education, Dance & Culture - Metropolitan Ballet Company (MBC) is a non-profit organization providing scholarships, performance training for pre-professional dancers and outreach programs designed to promote a love and appreciation of dance in our community.
Metropolitan Ballet Company, established as a 501(c)(3) in 2001, grew from several programs initiated by its parent school, Metropolitan Ballet Academy, which was founded in Jenkintown, PA in 1996. Today MBC is recognized as our region's preeminent classical dance company, and its training acknowledged as one of “seven local studios in America cultivating top talent,” (Pointe, October/November 2011).
Noted for its high-caliber faculty, rigorous performing schedule, successful alumni, and acclaimed Boys’ Scholarship Program, MBC has been cited as “one of the top places to see ballet in Philadelphia” (CBS/ Arts and Culture, June, 2012). MBC has twice been honored with the Youth America Grand Prix “Outstanding School Award” in the world’s largest international student ballet scholarship competition (Philadelphia, 2012 & 2015). MBC was also named “2015 Nonprofit of the Year” by the Eastern Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce.
