Abington Friends School
Founded in 1697, Abington Friends School is one of the oldest schools in the nation. A Quaker school in culture, not just in name, AFS is a vibrant, joyful and ambitious place, intentionally built to foster a community and classroom life rooted in a profound respect for individuals.
Today, our dynamic teaching and learning environment for students in preschool to grade 12, includes the first certified nature explore classroom, outdoor classroom in the state, a robust arts curriculum with an award-winning theatre program, state-of-the-art maker spaces and robotics labs, a brand new athletics center for our 49 interscholastic teams and a multi-racial classroom pedagogy forged through a partnership with the University of Pennsylvania, and much more.
The Experiential Learning Center opened its doors at AFS several years ago and extends our students’ reach into the real world. The Center acts as the engine that runs an integrated and interdisciplinary experiential learning model throughout the school. A wide range of programs connect students in substantive ways to hands-on learning experiences, including a global travel program, an exchange program with an Australian Friends school, service learning partnerships, and pre-professional programs that connect students with professional mentors in the fields of business, entrepreneurship, medicine and law.
The AFS program enriches the imagination, confidence creativity and academics of children and prepares them for meaningful lives.
